BEML Acknowledgements

The BEML is supported by the University of Connecticut and grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) for purchase of equipment.  This support should be acknowledged in poster, publications and presentations that are made possible by the work performed at the BEML.  These acknowledgements help us to justify continued support of the facility at university, state and federal levels.

  • For papers, an acknowledgement could read: “This work was performed in part at the Biosciences Electron Microscopy Facility of the University of Connecticut.” Acknowledgements of specific staff contributions may also be appropriate.
  • For posters and presentations, it is sufficient to list the Biosciences Electron Microscopy Laboratory along with other acknowledgements.
  • For work carried out using the FEI Nova NanoSEM 450, the Oxford EDS system or the Leica cryotransfer system, the acknowledgement should include reference to NSF grant #1126100 for funds used to purchase these instruments
  • For work carried out using the Leica SP8 Confocal Microscope, the acknowledgement should include reference to NIH Award # 1S10OD0165435-01A1 for funds used to purchase this instrument.
